After a fun and long bus ride we arrived at our last activity for the day, riding bikes! The place where the school was renting the bikes from had hundreds of different bikes and some even looked like cars and were electric. I picked out the first bike I saw and was eager to ride it around. The place we rode the bikes around had blocked off roads where there were no cars. We were surrounded by farm fields and the beautiful foggy mountains. My friends and I rode around for the whole hour we got and stopped multiple times to get pictures. I had a really good time!

I was nervous to go on the bike ride. This was because I hadn’t ridden a bike for awhile and wasn’t wearing a helmet. The second I got on the bike, it all went away. It became enjoyable, and looking at the view was amazing. It was going smoothly until I looked down and saw my shoe was coming untied. I decided to stop on the side, but I didn’t know how close I was to the side and almost hit the wall. I hit the brakes and nearly was sent over the wall! After that, I needed a minute. Then I started riding again and we stopped for ice cream. I got lemon, which was so good! After all of that, we went back to the bus.

Biking is difficult. So difficult in fact, I don’t know how to. I thought after reading the itinerary, I would have to miss out on the chance to explore the scenic Chishang. But to my surprise, the teachers and chaperones had me covered. Instead of riding a bike on my lonesome, I instead got to experience Chishang on a four seat motorized cart and I think that made it all the better. It wouldn’t have bothered me if I hadn’t been able to sit with my friends, but that didn’t happen to me either. Instead I got to sit with Jenny, someone I had not even met before the trip but became fast friends with after sharing a dorm for the first week. We got to ride through the rice paddies, the mountains in the distance and enjoy expending zero effort while enjoying some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. The mountains looming in the distance would have to be my favorite. We stopped a few times on our ride to take some beautiful pictures and even debated stopping at a small ice cream shop right off the road. At the end of the day, I don’t think it could have gone any better.

Since I can’t ride a bike very well, I rode on a electric-powered vehicle with two of our teachers. At first, it was sort of scary since we were close to the edge, but then I thought it was really fun. Although Taipei is really hot, the speed of our vehicle gave enough air to cool us all down. I liked how there wasn’t walls around the seats so I could see the scenery and crops. Overall, I think it was uneventful but somehow relaxing.

Since I don’t really know how to bike, I went with Nora and Anton on an electric golf-cart like vehicle. It moved pretty slow, but it was still quite enjoyable. We slowly drove by many different farmers working. We even said “Hi” and waved to one of them. There was an ice cream shop that a whole lot of different students that bought a cone.
